What is the UK Government’s G-Cloud 14 framework?
UK universities often struggle to buy innovative technology at scale from small businesses and niche suppliers.
This is because public sector bodies and universities typically have stringent procurement rules in place that guide larger purchases, which can be as little as £10k.
Small, niche suppliers that don’t have the resources in place to meet the stringent procurement rules often find themselves at a disadvantage. This is despite the suppliers product or service being exactly what the client wants.
To address this problem, the UK Government’s Crown Commercial Service created the ‘G-Cloud 14’ framework. This online technology marketplace allows buyers to purchase cloud-based software, computing and hosting services directly from any supplier that is listed on the platform.
To list on G-Cloud 14, all suppliers must go through a rigorous application and evaluation process which takes several months to complete.
But all suppliers that successfully list on the G-Cloud 14 framework are able to share their details, including prices, so public sector organisations can then make direct purchases.
The only business simulation listed
From November 2024, our digital business simulation, Evolution, became one of 12,374 cloud software products available on the UK Government’s G-Cloud 14 framework. However, Evolution, is the only business simulation that can be sourced from the marketplace.
